Couple secures Gold Coast getaway at the $260m Chevron One

Melbourne couple Michelle Gray and Michael Burstin have lined up years of sunny winter escapes with the $3.25 million purchase of a luxurious sub-penthouse within Chevron Island’s first high-rise tower, Chevron One.Ms Gray said the expansive residence on Level 38 of the 40-storey tower would become a getaway for the busy professional couple, especially during Victoria’s bitterly cold winters.“We’ll keep a car there so we can just jump on a plane and be there and drive anywhere we like on the Gold Coast,” she said.“We love that it’s an island retreat, but ridiculously close to the centre of Surfers Paradise.“The dining scene has matured so much and I just love the Gold Coast weather and the fact that there’s a lot of buzz and choice of things to do.”Space and outlook were important considerations for the couple who were attracted to how the interior of their apartment blended seamlessly with its generous balcony area and spectacular city vistas.“The apartment itself is just magnificent; it’s views, design, the size of sweeping balconies and the amenities,” Ms Gray said. The couples’ four-bedroom sub-penthouse spans almost 250sqm, including almost 80sqm of balcony space, and offers outstanding north-east views of the Nerang River, Surfers Paradise and beyond.A key factor in their decision to buy at Chevron One was the fact their spectacular view was unobstructed and would not be built out by other towers.“We have the air space, which is great because if you get your view obstructed, it changes everything,” Ms Gray said. They also appreciated the building’s emphasis towards owner-occupiers.“When we heard that the developer’s family will be residing there on levels 39 and 40, we knew it was the building for us,” she said.“I like that there won’t be tourists in and out of there and no people on short-term rentals.”The Chevron One sub-penthouse is one of six within the tower and is the couples’ first property purchase on the Gold Coast. Each sub-penthouse has three bedrooms all with ensuites and a fourth or ‘flexi’ bedroom, which could also serve as a study thanks to sliding doors opening to the living area. The master bedroom comes complete with a walk-in robe and an ensuite with freestanding bath.Designed by award-winning celebrity chef Shannon Bennett, the entertainer’s kitchen has two ovens, a double sink, integrated Miele appliances, five-burner cooktop, and plenty of storage space. The kitchen blends with an open-plan living area and expansive outdoor entertaining space with sweeping views of Surfers Paradise as its backdrop. The $260 million arts-inspired Chevron One will rise at the eastern end of Stanhill Drive, just minutes from the centre of Surfers Paradise and amid the relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere of Chevron Island village.Offering a total of 247 one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments, Chevron One is the first high-rise tower set to take shape on Chevron Island. The development will incorporate extensive art spaces in a nod to the city’s emerging $365 million arts and cultural precinct just across the river at Evandale.Chevron One is the first Queensland project for Bensons Property Group, which has developed more than $2 billion in projects throughout Melbourne over nearly quarter of a century. Its apartments will overlook the Surfers Paradise skyline, the ocean, Nerang River and the hinterland depending on their location within the tower.Residents will have access to an array of superb resort-style leisure facilities at ‘Club One’ including indoor and outdoor pools, a BBQ area, al fresco dining, gymnasium, yoga and sculpture garden, residents lounge and bicycle racks.Apartments are priced from $455,000 for one-bedroom apartments through to $16.5 million for the 1600 square metre, two-level penthouse retained by the Group Chairman and his family.Construction of the tower is scheduled to be complete by early 2021.
