Halcyon has wrapped up sales of more than $100 million in 2016

Leading over 50s community developer Halcyon has wrapped up sales of more than $100 million in 2016 and is preparing to launch Australia’s first over 50s golf and residential community in the New Year.Halcyon Greens at Pimpama, on the northern Gold Coast, will be launched early in 2017 as the company’s current project, Vision by Halcyon, at Hope Island, nears completion and sold-out status.Having sold 189 homes for $105.5 million across several projects in 2016, the developer is on the lookout across South East Queensland (SEQ) for the next site as it continues to focus on delivering luxurious lifestyle communities to over 50s.Halcyon joint managing director Dr Bevan Geissmann said the company anticipated 250 sales in 2017 with the launch of its flagship project, Halcyon Greens.“The introduction of Halcyon Greens early in 2017 will ensure Halcyon keeps an active presence in all three SEQ coastal regions – Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast,” he said.“We are experiencing growth buoyed by increasing demand for premium living for over 50s in SEQ, but we are conscious not to overextend.“Halcyon’s focus is on measured growth to ensure it stays true to the philosophy of delivering excellent service and product to buyers.”Dr Geissmann said the company would remain focussed on SEQ because it was where the region’s baby boomers wanted to retire.“Research commissioned by Halcyon shows baby boomers have a preference for staying in their ‘corridor’, for example Brisbane/Sunshine Coast or Brisbane/Gold Coast, so that they stay close to family and friends but in a new ‘lifestyle’ location,” he said.“South East Queensland has the ingredients of the perfect destination for retirement in terms of infrastructure, amenity, affordability and climate.“For this reason Halcyon will not develop outside the region.”Vision by Halcyon was awarded the UDIA (Qld) Award for Excellence in Seniors Living in 2016. It will take on the national award in 2017.Vision by Halcyon has secured sales of $58 million across 82 homes since its launch in 2014.Six homes remain available within the final release of the community and range in price from $679,000 to $1.43 million.
