Nature Reserve to Shine at Arundel Springs

Leading Queensland residential developer Villa World will inject new life into a long-neglected stretch of Gold Coast wetland to create a pristine nature reserve as the spectacular centrepiece for its Arundel Springs estate. The Arundel reach of the Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area, home to a diverse range of natural species including a large population of kangaroos, has been locked away from public view for decades under private ownership as one of the Gold Coast’s last working dairy farms.Since acquiring the 25ha infill site on Greenacre Drive from the O’Brien family in 2016, Villa World has created a master plan for Arundel Springs to include extensive public space that directly fronts the Coombabah Wetlands.“Villa World sees this development as a major opportunity to both provide recreational amenities for the local community and to revive an area that has lain waste through years of neglect,” said Villa World’s CEO and Managing Director Craig Treasure.“The area is overgrown with introduced weeds and is choked with sediment. We plan to extensively clean it up and add new plantings in line with council requirements to create a beautiful natural environment for everyone to enjoy.“We have been working closely with the City of Gold Coast who have been very supportive of this initiative.”The upgrade will include new bicycle and pedestrian pathways that will connect with the landscaped parks and amenities within the Arundel Springs community. There also will be a series of access points to the nature reserve for residents that will include pedestrian viewing decks. The regenerated nature reserve and wetland will create a natural backdrop along Arundel Springs Avenue, the main access route through Arundel Springs which will boast unique streetscaping features throughout.“Villa World has designed Arundel Springs as an interactive environment to encourage play and recreation within the natural and urban spaces we’re creating,” said Mr Treasure“The public spaces are designed to have minimal impact on the Coombabah Wetlands, while creating a distinctive and functional environment for the public.“This will provide a spectacular centrepiece to the Arundel Springs project, which is currently Villa World’s flagship development on the Gold Coast.”Arundel Springs will comprise 306 residential lots and approximately 80 town homes when completed, with the project expected to create around 1500 jobs during its staged development.Arundel Springs is scheduled for release to the market in the first half of 2016 with land lots ranging in size from 300sqm to 811sqm.“Arundel Springs is a community that will appeal to young couples, families and active retirees looking to build their dream home,” said Mr Treasure.“It’s one of the most exciting projects we’ve undertaken at Villa World and a project upon which our design team has been working very hard.“Once completed, Arundel Springs will deliver a lasting legacy for the community and showcase the rewards of the collaboration we have enjoyed with the City of Gold Coast on this particular project.”Arundel Springs is close to primary and secondary schools, shops, and is just metres from a new light rail stop connecting with Helensvale Railway Station, Griffith University, Gold Coast University Hospital, Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.Villa World is Queensland’s oldest ASX-listed housing developer and one of Australia’s largest housing providers. Today, more than 40,000 Australians call a Villa World address home.
