Pelican Waters Marina under way as part of $20 million marina village

Construction will begin early in the new yearon the first stage of the marina complex within the proposed new $20 millionmarina village at Pelican Waters on the Sunshine Coast.

Seasoned marineindustry identity Les Binkin is progressing plans to build the 125- wet berthmarina including 160 dry berths to cater for strong demand for mooringfacilities and services from recreational boaties and tourists on the coast.

Mr Binkin currentlyowns two marinas in the Newcastle and Central Coast area in NSW, among them MarmongPoint Marina, and he plans to operate the new state-of-the-art Sunshine Coast facilityafter construction is completed towards the end of 2021.

ThePelican Waters marina project will include construction of four proposed marinaarms and the dry stack building. There will also be a full-service marina yard offeringa range of boating facilities including maintenance, detailing and repairs, aswell as a shipwright, clients lounge and a cafe.

When completed, the marina will become the boating hubfor the proposed Pelican Waters marine village and will be the first step increating a vibrant new heart for the suburb.

The marine village will be located adjacent to a $200million master-planned community, The Cove, which is currently taking shape onthe exclusive enclave known as The Island at Pelican Waters.

The Cove, comprising 220 luxury apartments isbeing delivered across four stages by the Henzell family, the property pioneerswho first established Pelican Waters in the 1980s.

The marina development is a major steptowards realising the master plan for a new marine precinct in the suburb.

Constructionof the marina is expected to be completed in December next year, providing drystack facilities for up to 160 boats and up to 10 metres complementing the 125 wetberth facility.

The marina operator will offerconcierge-style services for boat owners with unlimited moves in and out of thewater from the dry stacker.

Marinaberths will not be offered for sale, instead licence’s will be offered to boatowners who require mooring facilities or access to the ancillary services at themarine precinct.

Causalberthing can be from 1 day to 3 months, while permanent berthing will startaround $500 per month

The marina willoffer Caloundra’s only on-water refuelling facilities as well as a waste pump-outstation.
