Pikos reaffirms commitment to Kangaroo Point with green light of $350 million luxury riverfront development

Three new luxury residential towers are set to rise from Brisbane’s riverside Kangaroo Point skyline after the Land and Environment Court issued an approval for the Pikos Group project.

Developer Pikos has not shied away from the rigorous scrutiny, engaging with council, and addressing issues raised within the community throughout the lengthy process resulting in a successful outcome for all stakeholders.

“We are delighted council has recognised the overall merits of our development and we can now move forward with a benchmark project that will enhance the inherent charm of Kangaroo Point and its future growth,” said Pikos Property Group head Pedro Pikos.

“The Pikos team is now gearing up to deliver the project and we expect work to commence as early as next month” he said.

The Brisbane-based property veteran said development precedents for the area had been set long ago and Pikos Group’s proposal sat well within the existing town planning parameters.

“We’ve gone back to the drawing board to ensure we continue to deliver a new standard of luxury residential tower development to the area in a well-designed integrated project that blends with and is sensitive to its surrounds.”

Among the refinements and modifications made to the proposal for the 5284sq m site at 108 Lambert Street, the developer has reduced the overall residential density from 300 apartments to 273 apartments.

“We’re aware of the views raised by some local residents and we want to reassure the community that we’ve listened, and we’re invested in the future of Kangaroo Point,” Mr Pikos said. “Now we are out of the appeal process, we continue to take on board community feedback and are exploring further options to substantially reduce apartment density and traffic volumes” he continued.

“This project will be the new benchmark for apartment living in terms of spaciousness and amenity on the Kangaroo Point peninsula, where our density is far less than in many existing residential towers in the area,” Mr Pikos said.

The go-ahead for the Lambert Street development follows Pikos Property Group lodging an appeal in the Planning & Environment Court after council initially rejected its application to increase the heights of the three planned towers from 10 storeys to 15 storeys in accordance with Brisbane City Council’s newly adopted Neighbourhood Plan.

Pikos has recently launched another Kangaroo Point development, the $250 million “Skye by Pikos” comprising of 70 ultra-luxury apartments — also across three towers — and a floating 1000sq m sky deck, inspired by Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, with panoramic views of the river and Brisbane city skyline. Skye By Pikos is set to launch in June 2021.
