Aniko gains development approval for $145 million Athena Quays at Hope Island

Aniko Group has been given the green light to proceed with its fifth project at Hope Island after gaining development approval for Athena Quays, a $145 million waterfront development proposed for a prime waterfront site.

The Gold Coast developer, which has led a residential renaissance at Hope Island in recent years with a portfolio totalling more than $500 million, is planning to deliver 177 apartments across two stages on the site at 10-12 Sickle Avenue, which is adjacent to the company’s highly successful Athena Residences currently under construction.

Athena Quays will comprise two eight-level towers, with 90 premium apartments planned for the first stage and 87 for the second.

The development has been fast-tracked following an overflow of inquiries from Athena Residences which was sold out within three months of its launch last year.

“A number of buyers who missed out on our earlier development Athena Residences have already indicated their interest in buying into Athena Quays,” said Aniko managing director George Mastrocostas.

“The Hope Island market continues to be in high demand among buyers looking for luxurious waterfront residences without the huge premiums found in beachside locations.”

Athena Quays will comprise a mix of apartments with two-bedroom layouts and two bedrooms plus study. These will be crowned by a collection of 24 three-bedroom sky homes.

Lifestyle has been a key design priority at Athena Quays for Aniko Group which plans to deliver open space and greenery across 60 per cent of the site. This will be accompanied by a premium waterfront amenity through a limited supply of private marina berths being offered with apartments, subject to approval.

Residents will also enjoy a range of amenities including recreation club with resort-style swimming pool, yoga and pilates hall, sun lounges and barbecue area and a fully equipped gym.

“Athena Quays is designed to offer the best of Hope Island’s relaxed waterfront lifestyle without the need to venture too far from home,” said Mr Mastrocostas.

“Building on the success of Athena Residences, we have incorporated many of the design elements in Athena Quays that have resonated with buyers to meet the continued demand for beautiful and spacious waterfront apartments in this popular residential precinct.”

Hope Island remains a highly sought-after suburb for local downsizers and increasingly for interstate buyers making the move to the Gold Coast.

With development approval granted, Aniko is preparing for the official launch of Athena Quays in coming months when the company plans to reveal further details of the apartments and sky home collection.
