Aniko Group enlists fitness expert Michelle Bridges for health club design

In an Australian first, Gold Coast developer Aniko Group has enlisted the help of a renowned fitness trainer to design and deliver a health club at its $140 million residential project, No. 1 Grant Avenue at Hope Island.Aniko Group is taking community health and wellbeing to a new level by collaborating with personal trainer Michelle Bridges, best known for her training role on The Biggest Loser, her online 12 Week Body Transformation program and her own MB Active label encompassing activewear, footwear, kitchenware and fitness equipment. The announcement comes on the heels of No 1. Grant Avenue becoming the best-selling project on the Gold Coast. According to the latest Urbis data, the project accounted for almost 25 per cent of all new apartment sales with more than $24 million secured in the September quarter.Aniko Group founder, George Mastrocostas said he and the team were looking forward to building on the sales success and working with Ms Bridges to deliver a facility that would encourage active living as trends continue toward downsizing.“There is a growing trend in Australia to be more active and this is certainly something we want to encourage and promote,” Mr Mastrocostas said.“We are working very hard to introduce lifestyle attributes that have not been done in Australia and that enable downsizers to maximise their lifestyle potential with community facilities that are without peer.“In line with the growing trend towards active and healthy lifestyles we have reached out for Michelle’s expert advice with the aim to deliver a facility which makes residents want to take time out of their day to exercise.”The 280 sq m health club will take prime position overlooking the pool and landscaped gardens and feature a child friendly space for parents on the go.Ms Bridges said she was excited to have been given the opportunity to work with a forward-thinking developer.“I’m thrilled to be working with Aniko Group and delivering what I believe is a visionary approach to health and wellbeing,” Ms Bridges said.“The health club at No. 1 Grant Avenue is an Australian first and will be a focal point of the project and I can’t wait to see our plans come to life for the benefit of this new community.“Having been in my industry for over 30 years I understand what works, gives great results and also keeps people interested. For me personally, I want this space to look and feel warm and inviting as well as very clearly results orientated, and very much about building a community,” she said.Ms Bridges said the health club would highlight Aniko Group’s dedication to creating something with depth and meaning.“Anyone who has been to a gym in a residence or hotel will know they are usually in the basement with no windows, they have the token gesture couple of dumbbells and the old school universal piece of equipment,” she said.“These gyms are often thrown together by people who don't really train themselves but feel that they have to put a "gym" in to tick the box. There's absolutely nothing inspirational about it and you usually end up going for a walk instead.“Aniko Group are addressing this void and have recognised that the health, wellbeing and community spirit of the residents is critically important, and this health club is going to be a space for everyone to enjoy,” she said. The first stage at No. 1 Grant Avenue is expected to be complete by mid-2020 and will comprise 105 apartments, ranging from one-bedroom, plus study to three-bedroom, plus study residences.  Apartments will range in size from 86sqm to 199sqm. Prices start from $369,000.Residents will enjoy access to a residents’ lounge, expansive pool with sundecks, zen garden, private media room, barbecue facilities, a pet wash bay, secure basement parking and bridge free access to the Broadwater and the seaway. The development is just a stone’s throw from the brand new $65 million Hope Island Marketplace and a short drive from the recently completed $470 million Westfield Coomera Town Centre.Hope Island is surrounded by majestic waterways, some of the best golf courses in Australia and is also home to two world class resorts in Sanctuary Cove and Hope Island resort.Hope Island offers a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet provides easy access to employment hubs of Brisbane CBD, Surfers Paradise and Southport.Buyers can experience the luxury on offer at No. 1 Grant Avenue with a brand-new sales suite on site complete with a full kitchen and bathroom display.
