Largest private landholding on Burleigh Headland hits market
The largest private landholding on the Burleigh headland – held by the same owner since 1945 - has been listed for sale in what is being described as a ‘once in a life time opportunity’ by selling agent Colliers.
The Burleigh site spanning 3,809 sqm across 7-9 & 16-28 Rudd Street has been owned by CYC Australia and operated as a youth camp for almost 80 years.
The rare site adjoins the Burleigh Heads National Park and is just a stone’s throw away from the beach and Tallebudgera Creek and within walking distance to the Gold Coast’s most premium cafés, restaurants and boutique shops.
The site offers a northern aspect to the ocean & Surfers Paradise.
Director of Colliers Investment Services, James Crawford, who listed the site for sale on behalf of the Christian Youth Council says the sale of CYC Burleigh is a never to be repeated opportunity.
“This is largest private land holding available on the Burleigh headland and without doubt, is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Mr Crawford.
“There has been a lot of focus on Burleigh Heads as one of the leading residential destinations in Australia and this site is accordingly expected to see some incredible interest.”
Director of Colliers, Steven King, says the CYC Burleigh site is unrivalled in size and is positioned in one of the most exclusive residential enclaves.
“Other land holdings of a similar size and position simply do not exist on the headland, so 3,809sqm of land in Burleigh’s premier residential enclave is a truly special and unique offering,” said Mr King.
Mr King also added, ”We anticipate the new owner will undertake some form of residential development in line with the residential and community zoning the site has. We also expect the the owner will investigate the additional 1,012sqm of land which adjoins the site.”
CYC Burleigh is a community youth camp facility that has been owned and operated by the Christian Youth Council since 1945.
Camp Director at CYC Burleigh, Andrew Grant, says the sale of CYC Burleigh comes with mixed emotions.
“We have been successfully hosting camps for school aged children at Burleigh since 1945 and this location is amazing,” said Mr Grant.
“After many years, we have simply outgrown this facility and around 18 months ago we purchased land on the Sunshine Coast that will allow us to increase our capacity and camp amenity.”
“In the short term CYC will be signing a lease at $500,000pa to continue operating camps from the site whilst the buyer goes through their approval process.”
The site comes with three titles which consist of:
o 7-9 Rudd Street | 903m2 land | Residence 3 bed / 2 bath
o 16 Rudd Street | 711m2 land | Storage area
o 18-28 Rudd Street | 2,195m2 land | Accommodation / camp facilities
The ‘Expressions of Interest’ campaign for the CYC Burleigh site closes on Wednesday 13 July 2022 at 4pm.
