Niecon Developments gears up for Gold Coast’s new golden decade with $300 million project pipeline

Niecon Developments, a company led by one of Queensland’s most respected development families renowned for reshaping the Gold Coast skyline over the past four decades, is gearing up for a new era of growth with a project pipeline worth almost $300 million.

The company, founded by the Nikiforides family, is behind some of the Gold Coast’s iconic visionary projects, including the $850 million The Oracle and Niecon Plaza at Broadbeach.

Now led by a third generation of the Nikiforides family - William, John and James - Niecon Developments is preparing for what the brothers see as a golden age for Australia’s lifestyle capital as the South-East Queensland region counts down to the 2032 Olympics.

Managing director William Nikiforides, who brings a wealth of knowledge and over 15 years of industry experience to Niecon Developments, said the company’s vision is aligned with the significant transformation for the Gold Coast the next decade will bring, led by the infrastructure boom planned for the Games.

“The Gold Coast is a city that embraces change and that has been a constant for as long as we can remember,” said Mr Nikiforides.

“But as we continue to grow, we need to ensure that the Gold Coast remains a strong and welcoming community and a place where people love to live.”

“The next decade is likely to be the most significant in the Gold Coast’s history and one that will shape the city’s future for decades to come.”

Amid the current Gold Coast development boom, Niecon Developments has taken a considered approach to new projects that it believes will make a positive contribution to the city’s urban and social fabric.

The latest is Ventura Residences at Mermaid Beach, a boutique development of 47 premium residences, including two double-storey park-facing villas. Ventura Residences is selling well, largely due to owner-occupiers who will enjoy an opulent and exclusive resident’s recreational terrace and lounge, suspended waterfall edge pool and sun deck, al fresco dining area, Zen garden and functional gymnasium.

With the project scheduled for completion in May next year, Niecon Developments is currently preparing to announce further projects across the city.

“As a family company, we stand proud on our record of creating architectural gems that have become Gold Coast landmarks, and my brothers and I are looking forward to continuing the tradition that began with our grandfather and father,” said Mr Nikiforides.

“Together we’ve grown up in the industry and learned from some of the best, and it’s our passion to build on their legacy.”

“We have never been here for the one and done. We are here for the long term and, to truly be part of something bigger, we believe there is more to this industry than just delivering quality projects. Our mission is to create life spaces that bring a community together.”

The Nikiforides Group was founded in Canberra in 1969 by Bill Nikiforides, before expanding to Sydney and later along Australia’s eastern seaboard. The family-owned company moved to the Gold Coast in 1978 and quickly established a reputation for quality and innovation across its developments in Queensland’s south-east.

The group’s flagship property development company, Niecon Developments, which was founded by his son Con Nikiforides and jointly run by the Father and Son team, won numerous industry awards for construction, design and engineering excellence and continues to be at the forefront of developing the ultimate life spaces.

Niecon Developments has a workbook of completed and upcoming projects to the tune of $1.68 billion.

In addition to The Oracle, a development that led the renaissance of Broadbeach to become the Gold Coast’s premier lifestyle and residential precinct, Niecon Developments is the company behind the award-winning Aruba Beach Resort at Broadbeach, Aqua on Broadwater at Labrador, Reflection on the Sea at Coolangatta and Nirvana by the Sea at Kirra.

Each of these projects developed over the past 25 years has been recognised for design excellence. Niecon Developments is renowned for creating inspiring architectural developments with a fine attention to detail for the living community that surrounds each project.

The new generation of Nikiforides, who are born-and-bred Gold Coasters, bring an extensive range of skills to Niecon Developments as the company prepares to deliver an extensive profile of commercial and residential projects in coming years.

William Nikiforides, as managing director, has a proven innovative approach across the development process, from planning through to completion, and complemented by his ability to build honest relationships with suppliers and contractors.

John Nikiforides, as general manager, has a background in property law and will oversee all finance, legal and office operations at Niecon Developments. John also has an unrivalled ability to stay focused on the big picture while maintaining an exceptional eye for detail.

James Nikiforides, the sales and marketing director, is a natural born creative, who is no stranger to producing high quality productions and building brands positioned for the future. James oversees the sales, marketing, and asset management operations of the company’s projects, and is focused on securing the reputation of Niecon developments as one of Gold Coast's most trusted developers. He also strives to maintain customer-focused experiences by leveraging technology to fulfill the expectations, demands and requirements of purchasers, owners and investors alike.

The Nikiforides brothers are committed to maintaining the family tradition by building on a living legacy of iconic developments.

“We’re on the cusp of a new golden era for the Gold Coast that we believe needs to be managed thoughtfully,” said Mr Nikiforides.

“At Niecon, this always starts with community, family and a deep level of consideration and connection to people and place. As a developer, we endeavour to go beyond architectural form and function and that’s what will continue to drive us into the future.”
