‘Super apartments’ to rise above Surfers Paradise at $1.2b Spirit

Over-sized super apartments will define the $1.2 billion Spirit project at Surfers Paradise with all 479 apartments in the Gold Coast super tower geared to downsizers and those looking for the ultimate lifestyle indulgence. While developers across Australia have trended toward smaller apartment living spaces over the last decade, developer Foriseland is defying this trend by creating “super apartments” in the sky in what will become Australia’s third tallest residential tower.Even one-bedroom apartments in Spirit, launched in July, are spaciously endowed at more than 110 square metres.“We are creating super apartments that will rival any project anywhere in the world,” said Julian Sutherland, of Ray White Projects, an arm of the Ray White Surfers Paradise Group, which has been appointed exclusively to market Spirit.“We have never seen an apartment project of this quality and magnitude in Australia – it’s an absolute thrill to create such a landmark, on such a scale, that not only retains but enhances its living spaces. It is quite remarkable what the team is creating at Spirit.“You won’t see so many over-sized apartments in any project in New York, London, Dubai or Beijing and yet here we are going to see almost 500 superbly appointed, large style homes in the sky right here on the beachfront overlooking Australia’s most famous beach.”Super apartments are defined as apartments that maximise liveability and space and create a genuine alternative to a home.“There is a strange dichotomy in the Australian market that people want to downsize and move from large family homes to apartments, but developers over the last decade have tended to create smaller living spaces,” said Mr Sutherland.“Spirit is going against this trend. Foriseland’s market feedback is that if affluent people want to downsize, they don’t want to sacrifice on living space.“Spirit will create opulent, ultra-luxury living spaces that are literally homes in the sky.“When you add to this the unbelievable facilities that will be incorporated into Spirit, then you literally have a community within a community – one that you rarely have to leave.”Spirit will soar 89 storeys and 303 metres above sea level with a wave-inspired façade that is destined to create a new Gold Coast landmark. It will feature an unheralded 2700 square metres of residents’ facilities over three floors, including rooftop facilities.Spirit will have the highest dwelling residential apartments in Queensland and is the tallest five-star green star accredited building in Australia.Additional luxury pay-per-use services will be available to residents, including car washing and detailing, babysitting, newspaper deliveries, pet vacation care and grooming.Butlers will be available to individual apartments upon request, as well as personal grocery shopping and flower arrangement deliveries. The rooftop level of Spirit will offer residence exclusive access to panoramic views of 52 kilometres of Gold Coast coastline accompanied with pools, bars, a cocktail lounge, banquet room and an extravagant wine and champagne cellar.Spirit will be Gold Coast’s most sought after location for weddings, business conferences and special events. The project has commenced construction on the iconic former Iluka site, bound by Hanlan St, Northcliffe Tce and Trickett St, with a spectacular beachfront display next to Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club. Apartments are now selling. The project is being marketed exclusively by Queensland’s largest real estate agency, the Ray White Surfers Paradise Group, and the company’s projects arm – Ray White Projects.Prices start at $1 million.
